The Most Unique Natural Formation To Gaze Upon

Pamukkale Travertines
Sunset over travertines
Pamukkale (meaning The Cotton Castle in Turkish) is a rather unique sight with not only its beautiful white travertine terraces and healing thermal water, but also with important historical locations such as city of Hierapolis, Necropolis and The Theater.

In Aegean Region of Turkey lies this snow white beauty. Though it is possible to walk upon the travertines, only walking bare foot is allowed which makes you feel the unique texture under your feet. Water flow from 17 springs contain calcium carbonate which made these white pools possible to form in millions of years.

Hierapolis (meaning The Sacred City in Greek) is located near the travertine pools of Pamukkale. There are several historical places to visit in Hierapolis including The Theater, Cleopatra Pool, Necropolis and Saint Philip Martyrium. I recommend you to take your time and swim in the authentic Cleopatra Pool which is open to public for a small fee. The Ancient Theater is also kept quite well and definitely worth a visit.

Cleopatra Pool
It is a wondrous experience to be in the water with antique columns of Cleopatra Pool
If you are looking for a tour program to visit Pamukkale and rich historical places nearby (Hierapolis, Laodicea, Aphrodisias, Ephesus), you can find some affordable packages in www.pamukkaletours.com.
